Facts about Wii Balance Board...


On July 2007 the Wii Balance Board was first shown, during the E3 trade show. With this product Nintendo wanted to reach a new type of audience, and get the couch potatoes around the world to begin training, in a new funny way. In may 2008 it was released in USA, 5 months later then Japan, and it was bundled with the game Wii Fit. It became extremely popular and soon more Balance Board compatible games was under development.

The board is formed like a weighing scale and it's colored with typically Nintendo colors, grey at the bottom and white at the top part. With four AA batteries the board got power for around 60 hours. With sensors to measure your weight transfers, you could lean to the left on the game when you lean to the left on the board. In Wii Fit the board weight your weight and your BMI (Body Mass Index). The design supports people weighing up to 150 kg. When using the board it's common to stay barefooted so you get a better grip. The board does not support people that is jumping on it.
