Skate It

After the success with Skate, EA was ready for a new challenge. With the Balance Board everything was ready to let a skategame arrive Nintendo Wii. Electronic Arts saw the opportunity and took it!

Almost a half year later (released 20 november 2008) I am sitting on a PC and write about it. I have buyed Skate it, also got the Balance Board, and then tried to play on the Balance Board. You could set how sensitiv the Balance Board is going to be and do tricks around in the city. Sometimes it's easier to just take the Wii Remote and play with that instead, because sometimes there's could be a little difficult to handle the skateboard with the Balance Board. But, I must say that it is a lot funnier to use the Balance Board that makes it a little harder. I mean, it works great! The tricks can sometimes be a little randomly, but at all the tricksystem works good.

The game is set to San Vanelona just like in Skate, but this time San Vanelona have been damaged by earthquakes. So you have to use the rest of the city to learn new tricks and make cool movies to get to a new city. You will sooner be able to travel to cities like London, Paris, Shanghai and Rio de Janeiro.

This is a game that I recommend you to have a look on, especially if you own a Wii Balance Board!

Facts about Wii Balance Board...

On July 2007 the Wii Balance Board was first shown, during the E3 trade show. With this product Nintendo wanted to reach a new type of audience, and get the couch potatoes around the world to begin training, in a new funny way. In may 2008 it was released in USA, 5 months later then Japan, and it was bundled with the game Wii Fit. It became extremely popular and soon more Balance Board compatible games was under development.

The board is formed like a weighing scale and it's colored with typically Nintendo colors, grey at the bottom and white at the top part. With four AA batteries the board got power for around 60 hours. With sensors to measure your weight transfers, you could lean to the left on the game when you lean to the left on the board. In Wii Fit the board weight your weight and your BMI (Body Mass Index). The design supports people weighing up to 150 kg. When using the board it's common to stay barefooted so you get a better grip. The board does not support people that is jumping on it.
